"Intensafire" PS3 controller rapid fire/ auto fire mod: Installation, demonstration, and review.

    The Intensafire ps3 (there is an Xbox version) controller rapid fire mod is a small chip that you can purchase online from bgrmods.com. I ordered mine for around $50 and it arrived about a week and a half later. Immediately after it arrived I installed it in my controller in about five minutes despite very vague directions on the inside of the cover flap.

  Here are some installation instructions for those of you who are having a more difficult time with it.

1. Make sure you have a compatible controller (most common compatible PS3 controller is model no. cechzc2u). Check their website for a complete list.
2. Open your Sony Sixaxis Dualshock3 controller by removing the five screws on its underside. There is a clip on the inside of the controller that faces you when the controller is held normally in your hands. It's found between the left and right joy sticks, directly in the center of the controller seam. Once you have removed your screws, press in until the clip is undone, then gently pull it apart (no need to force anything).
3. You should now see a battery in the center of the controller. You have no reason to disconnect it; just move it aside so that you can see what's under it.

4. Remove the tab from under your intensafire chip and gently stick it on the controller board.

5. Tuck the LEDs inbetween the player 3 & 4 LEDs and the outer shell.

6. Re-close your controller and you should be ready to go. Should...

 After I installed mine it worked for about a minute then started shutting off randomly, switching modes, or just not doing anything. Finally when I had taken apart my controller and reinstalled the stupid thing about three times it just started working properly with no explanation as to why. This was frustrating but at least I was ready to start playing MW3!

   BGRmods advertises this as an eight mode rapid fire chip, which it is (sorta). although it had eight modes, five preset and three programable, you'll only be using two or three for call of duty games. The modes I used were one, three, and six. These were the modes that affected the R1 button on my PS3 controller. the other modes worked with other buttons like X, R2, L2, etc. My second gripe with this mod after the whole not working properly after installed issue, was the fact that you can't have rapid fire in R1 and L1 at the same time, or any two buttons for that matter. This made the mod much less useful than it could have been for single fire akimbo weapons. Furthermore the modes on this mod are sort of random as far as how they work with different guns, mode 1 might be faster than mode 2 for the mk14 but slower than mode 2 when using .44 magnum. It also takes forever to change modes which you will usually have to do when you switch weapons for maximum fire speed efficiency.

   final thoughts: Not worth the $50 dollars! This device does what was advertised for the most part, once it started functioning correctly that is. It did everything they said it would, just not that well. For ten, fifteen, even twenty dollars this thing might be worth it but $50 is just way too much. I will be returning it tomorrow and using the money to buy another mod.=]
